THE LION and THE CROSS - Anthem  - 2m17s

As the old greets the new, the Lion and the Cross hold true,
burnished gold and brilliant blue, the ancient standards fly.
While they soar to the last on the fortress unsurpassed
Scots the world oe’r will hear their homeland’s cry.

From rugged hill to silver shore the banners fly for evermore
Ever proud and ever sure their colours fill the skies
So they’ve shone oe’r the years through endless joys and countless tears
to carry Scotland’s hopes and dreams where e’er they lie

And as our hearts are raised in song, proud Scotland’s voice will echo strong,
for cruel defeat and victories sweet, we’ve known
And this land we hold so dear will light the world so clearly,
while the rampant lion and Andrew’s cross are flown

As the old greets the new, the Lion and the Cross hold true,
burnished gold and brilliant blue, the ancient standards fly.
And while they soar to the last on the fortress unsurpassed
Scots the world oe’r will hear their homeland’s cry.

In writing “The Lion and The Cross” I hope to have created a song that is distinctly Scottish. One which celebrates Scotland’s rich historical heritage and stunning landscapes, but which also looks to the future and calls to Scots everywhere, wherever they may be in the world........
